‘Broken things like me are better alone.’

Inspired by a news headline in a local paper Sorcha Furlong (Fair City), in a tour-de-force performance, captivatingly portrays Mary Fortune from womb to tomb through the highs and lows of a life that finally spiralled out of control. Blackly comic, rich and poignant this stunning new play brings vividly to life a whole cast of characters from Mary Fortune’s past. Dare to laugh at despair and gasp at this brave, bleak, beautiful yet very humorous show. You’ll be thinking of Mary Fortune long after the lights go down.

‘Tender Mercies is a stellar endorsement for art that examines the unseen lives around us' ‘The writing is rich with character and the shifts in tone are well handled in the text, expertly melding dark humour with even darker truths"

TENDER MERCIES originated in Scene + Heard in a work-in-progress version and was part of The New Theatre’s New Writing Week 2023.

Originally developed, produced and staged at The New Theatre, Temple Bar, Dublin. ‘
